I decided to start a wedding planning blog so I don't overtake my regular blog with every single thing I want to share about our wedding....I really don't want to be one of those people who goes so crazy with wedding plans that it's all I can think about or talk about, so I figure this is a way that I can keep the two separate.

I REALLY would love for anyone who wants to have access to our wedding planning blog, but I made it private just to keep it a little closer. The Story You've All Been Waiting For.....

We're excited to blog and announce that Seth proposed, I said YES, and we're Engaged!!!

On Monday night (the 24th of March), Seth picked me up after work and asked me if I wanted to go to 2 Amys, my favorite pizza restaurant! We drove up to 2 Amys restaurant in upper Georgetown and got right in to eat our favorite--the Margarita Extra Neapolitan Pizza! Mmmm this has been one of our favorites since our first kiss date--August 5, 2005. We love the pizza, and love even more the memories associated with it. I think several of the visitors we've had in DC have had the treat of this pizza as well thanks to our love for it and desire to share it with everyone!!! This dinner, however, was just the two of us :)

After dinner, we got in the car and Seth started driving. I could only hope that this date was a pattern from our first kiss date, when we drove down to Iwo Jima and settled in near the Carillon Tower, overlooking our Favorite View of DC, right next to the "Griffin"*. Well, I was in luck, because that's exactly what we did!!! Seth parked near Iwo Jima and we made the very cold walk to the Carillon Tower. We looked for the bench that used to overlook the entire city, and when we realized they'd removed it (what were they thinking???) we stood next to the griffin, overlooking our favorite view, and just hugged for a LOOOONNNNG time. I can't even describe the thoughts and feelings I had as we were standing there, both anticipating what was to come. After a little while, Seth sat me down next to the Griffin and got down on one knee. He pulled out the box, took the ring out, and asked me to marry him!! (He even said Janey, my favorite!)

After basking in the moment, a very funny homeless man decided he wanted to stand next to us and enjoy the view as well. He basked in our moment with us for awhile, eying my purse the entire time. I whispered to Seth that maybe he could take our picture, but seth thought that he might want to take our camera, so we opted against that. It was really cold anyway, and we were turning into icicles, so we decided to leave him in peace and go to our warm car!!!

Sigh. Isn't that just the best story ever? I still play it over and over in my mind....what a memorable evening!

After calling the parents, we came back to the apartment for a few post-engagement pictures (thanks Mary and Ashley)!

Telling the Story:

That night I was clearly too excited to sleep, so I was just going through all of the people in our lives that have made such a difference--family and friends. Each moment seemed to bring a new person to mind that had really made such a difference in my life, and had led me to this moment. If it weren't for the support of loving parents, amazing siblings, & fantastic friends, (and even a few "angel among us" acquaintances) I don't think I would ever be where I am today. So...I guess I just wanted to say "Thanks". Thank you, for your love, your support, your encouragement--for everything. We truly couldn't have made it this far in our lives without you. My heart is full of gratitude for the people throughout my life who have touched me in so many different ways.

I'm so lucky to have so many amazing people in my life!

*Note: We know that the "Griffin" is actually a very large lion and not a large eagle-ish creature....we just have called it a griffin from the beginning and I'd like to keep it that way!!!

Last night Seth came over after work for dinner, and he showed up with this!!!

After a LOOOONNNNG day at work, Seth took time to stop by blockbuster and buy Enchanted for me! I'm going on a work trip next week, so he said he thought I might have some extra time on my hands and might need something to watch. Awww, he knows me so well :) Thanks my sweet!

Cara's Vegas Wedding!

NOTE: The pictures aren't coordinated with the Story. Sorry! I just wanted to put so many in that i couldn't align them :)

Not even two weeks after Ann's wedding, I got to fly out and go to Cara Hadley's wedding! It was so fun to see my dear BFF get married, I'm so glad I got to make the trip out and see her on her special day :)

I flew into Vegas on Friday night and Cara and Brandon picked me up from the 'port. We headed back to their new apartment and Brandon made us YUMMMY YUMMY Smoothies while Cara and I chatted chatted chatted and I admired her wedding dress and other new clothes! (typical...) It was sooooo fun to chill out with my BFF and her soon-to-be husband. The smoothies were delicious, I should have taken a picture! We also opened wedding presents, which I think might be the "funnest" thing ever. Stackable baking racks? What a GREAT IDEA! Silicone coated stirr-ers and wire whisks? EVEN BETTER! Man, this "I have my own kitchen with nice new things in it" is a little too much for my brain to absorb. Lucky! (Thanks for the dress idea, Ann!)

Brandon took off a little later and Cara and I talked more and more and more. I've always wondered what the night before a wedding is like...and I think Cara showed us that it's pretty regular--we still stayed up until 1:30 AM, we still talked about all the Sugar City updates, and laughed about our newest theories in life. Sigh. Life is just happy, right?

We woke up the next morning and went to get Cara's hair done. I sported my leggings with my purple dress, that cara thought was absolutely hideous and that i think is awesome. I swear, whatever happened to my "never ever ever ever will i be in the 80's again" thing? In my defense, the legging/dress thing is actually cute and not 80's so much. It's more...um....a reasonably warm way to wear a dress and still look chic. Anyway....
ISN'T CARA PRETTY!!!! Look how cute they are :)

Cara's hair dresser was SOOOOO funny. She was totally adorable and we laughed and laughed as she skillfully set Cara's hair. Cara made sure that her hair didn't look like Emma Smith's (by pulling up the curls on the sides) and also made sure it didn't look like "Anne of Green Gables" by making sure it was pinned tight enough. it was funny because as we were both watching her hair, I had both of the exact same thoughts...I kept thinking "hmmm it's kind of like Anne of Green gables, maybe we should request it tighter..." but before i could say it, Cara came out with it! Two great minds think of the same movies, right? Anyway, the hair. turned out. BEAUTIFUL! It was in this cool double french twist with some unique rolls in the back. It was perfect and went so well with the dress, too! Way to go Cara and Brianne!

We came back to the house and got ready, and then Cara's Mom and Kenneth came over, we ate some YUMMY homemade mac and cheese, and then took off for the temple! After Cara went in, I was waiting outside and saw....THE HOWELLS! I was so excited that I accidentally hung up on Seth and ran up to them to re-introduce myself and talk for a few minutes. They are just such a lovely couple, I could hang on their every word. They're still living in St. George and loving it--Pres. Howell does guided tours of the historic sites in the area--wouldn't it be fun to go on one?

Cara's sealing was beautiful. She cried and I didn't--that's a first! :) Afterward we went and laced up the beautiful back of cara's dress and then came out for pictures. Cara's neices are ADORABLE. I held Addy up so she could see Cara come out in her Princess dress, and then Hadley and Addy got to take pictures with my camera....Look how cute they are!

We took pictures around the temple, and then I took off to go to IN-N-OUT burger. MMMM.
Okay. This is quite possibly my favorite picture in the world. I just loved how Cara and Brandon, knowing that some pictures can seem silly, made fun of themselves and made me laugh really hard.... :)
The reception was at Brandon's Brother's house in his back yard. Cara got her Citrus Dream wedding, complete with Fruit bowls on the tables (oranges, lemons, and limes), colored squares over white table cloths, Lemonade, Fruit Skewers, and Cream Puffs! Her cake was awesome too--a friend made it for her, and it had a layer of orange cake, a layer of green cake, and a layer of yellow cake--just like a citrus tree! I've heard of the Citrus theme wedding for years now and was so glad to see it come to pass. Good job on the planning, Hadleys and Hafens!

After the reception I stayed with Cara's old neighbor Ashley in this dream room:

And the next morning Nice Annie took me to the airport! What a fun weekend!

Ann's Wedding

Seth and I were so lucky to get to go to the wedding! Ann was the most beautiful Bride, and we were so glad we got to meet Jared. He's absolutely perfect for her--I can't think of a better match for Anna-Banana.

The wedding was beautiful. Ann looked exquisite and Jared so handsome.

I felt like I had the best seat in the house--I could see Ann looking at Jared, and beyond Ann, her dad looking at her with the cutest look on his face. It seems like my whole life I remember the connection that Ann and her Dad have had, so it was neat to see. I think everyone in the room got a little teary :) One of the best moments was seeing Ann and Jared walk out of the temple together as Husband and Wife. They both looked SOOO happy! Pictures were fun, too!

It was also a lot of fun to see the Kellers. I re-introduced myself to Mike, who commented that we likely hadn't seen each other since I was 6 years old. Isn't it funny how time flies!?!? Mike's fiance (now wife, they were married last week) Melanie is beautiful, and we also made the connection that her sister lived in DC and was a friend of ours! Melanie came out to help her sister Liz move, and now, looking back, I remember her stopping by my apartment for a party we were having. Isn't it funny how small the world is?
Name That Keller:


The wedding Luncheon was at P.F. Changs (YUMMY!) We got to sit by Pres. & Sis Keller(Jim & Janice) at the luncheon, and they've had quite the amazing experiences in San Fran. One of the things that has been neat for them has been starting up a Figi-ian (yeah, i doing know how to write that...but people from Figi, where Ann served her mission) branch in their area. Ann has been really helpful and influential with that, so several of the people from the branch came to her wedding and made both her and Jared Leis to wear when they got out of the temple.

Thanks for helping us come out, Ann, we LOVED being a part of your special day!!!

San Francisco!

At the first of March, Seth and I got the chance to fly out for Ann Keller's wedding in San Francisco (Thanks Mel for your help with buddy passes!!!) It was a fantastic experience, we had so much fun!!

We got in to SF and rented a car, then drove down to the pier. On our way Jilene called and we realized that Ann & Jared, and Jilene & Kaleub & Eli were all heading down to Pier 39! We all met up at the Pier, then went to Boudin's for lunch. I didn't realize this before, but aparently SF is famous for their sourbread (as it compliments the seafood nicely) Seth got the Clam Chowder Sourdough breadbowl and I got a YUMMY Grilled Cheese on Sourdough with tomato soup. Mmm Mmmm good. It was so nostalgic to be walking with two of my dear friends from growing up/high school. It was even funnier that we were all in San Francisco--it seemed so random yet so fitting at the same time. We chatted at lunch and caught up on the past several years of our lives. Jared, Ann's husband is the most perfect match for her--he's VERY friendly and so adventurous--they will be quite the team and I can't wait to see all the things they get to do in life! And it was so nice to catch up with Jilene--we haven't seen each other since her wedding! Baby Eli is adorable :) (I look awful in this photo....i promise my nose isn't that big...)



After lunch we went back down to Pier 39 and saw the seals on the pier and got the YUMMY donuts that Daniel & Jen introduced me to years ago. They were just as good as I'd remembered! We rode the carousel and wandered around to all the shops. We even saw the stars! It was so fun to just relax for an entire day!!
At De Ette's recommendation, we went to the Fisherman's Grotto for dinner and had some tasty Red Snapper and some Halibut. I think they had caught the fish that morning, they were very fresh. The best part of the grotto was the view of everything--these pictures hardly do it justice. Seth and I were in the chattiest mood--we ended up talking for 2.5 hours at the restaurant! It was a nice respite from the SF wind and chill!
The Seals:

We stayed at the Chatterton's house, Seth in the "Green Room" and me in the "Princess Room"--I've ALWAYS wanted to sleep in a bed with a canopy, and my wish finally came true! It was so nice to feel like a princess whilst sleeping :) (I swear for being 25 I shouldn't find such joy in the princess-y thing...) We woke up to a SCRUMPTIOUS breakfast of Fresh homemade oatmeal with crasins, coconut, blueberries, and fresh Whipped Cream! Along with that we had Croissants with Fresh Strawberries, Cream Cheese, and Nutella, fresh pineapple and mango, and Orange Juice! Mmmm it was scrumptious!

I'm going to post about the wedding in the next post because I want to include a lot of pictures....in sum, it was a beautiful wedding and a wonderful day!

After the wedding luncheon, we went back to the bay and drove across the golden gate bridge. On the other side they have a lookout that shows the whole city!
Then we drove back and watched the sunset as we were driving across the bridge again!


We then drove up and down the hilly streets until we found our parking space, and then we hopped on the Trolley! We went down go Ghiordelli square to check out the scene, and ended up eating at a little 50's style diner next to the Ghiordelli shop. It was so fun to walk around and see everything, and even more fun to ride on the Trolley!

Up early the next morning, we flew back and made it home just in time for more festivities and Ryan's famous Pancake Breakey! :) Now....for the wedding.

Energetic, especially when there's sugar or chocolate involved! When I was little, several things made me hyper-hypo, all of which somehow came down to a high sugar content--apples, bananas, peanut butter, chocolate, corn, red food dye, etc. I think when I eat these things now I still get hyper, I just know how to keep it under wraps a little better!

Loves: Holding hands on a Sunday evening walk, Seeing Kyle's face light up when he sees Grandpa Price, Reading blogs, Collecting crafts for my to-do list, Watching the sun set over water, Smiling a genuine smile that I can't stop, Dairy Godmother Lemon Poppy seed Custard, Lorna Doones 100 Calorie Snack Pack, Skyping with Mom and Dad, Talking on the phone while driving home from work, watching Gilmore Girls while drifting off to sleep, feeling healthy after working out, waking up feeling refreshed.

Ice Cream favorites: Pomegranate Chip, Lemon Custard, Phish Food, Half Baked, Cake Batter W/Black Cherries and Yellow Cake, & Plain ole Vanilla with Raspberries on top!

Zany is still one of my favorite words that we learned from Wade. I also think I'm a little Zany most times, so I guess it's a good descriptor for my life, too :)

Amiable disposition. I REALLY just love people. It's funny, sometimes when I'm falling asleep at night I just get all swelly in my heart and just feel this gratitude and love for the many people that bless my life every day. I like to think that I feel amiable even toward people who may hurt or make me sad--and I still care so much about them!

Burney, Ladiogus, Beebo the Bag, and Plano of Dog. The names of my four favorite imaginary friends growing up. Burney and Ladiogus were little old men who liked to travel the world and call me on the phone, and Beebo the bag was kind of like a cartoon black plastic bag whose arms were the corners of the bag...and Plano of dog--I don't think he was a dog...i can't quite figure out how to describe him. Hmmm, please don't psychoanalyze me for my choice of imaginary friends.

Efficiency Expert. I'm always trying to do things fast--whether it's at work or at home or sewing or typing....you get it. In my last job I was proud to say that we increased office efficiency over 85% during my time running the office! (CUA Law students, you can thank me later). I love figuring out how to organize something so that it has a "process" and I love figuring out how to double up on tasks so that I spend half the time. What do I do with all my extra time, you may ask? Oh, I dunno, maybe I should come with an organizational structure for that.

Talker. Man, when someone gets me talking.....

Happy Janey is my favorite way to be. REALLY happy, not just I'll smile happy...like I can't STOP smiling happy!

Pooh-Tan Fabric

This is an update to my post on my Quilt Exchange!

I joined the quilt exchange and bought my fabric the first day...remember the cute blue fabric?

Well, two weeks later it still hadn't arrived, so I emailed the website i bought it from and got the following message in response:

"Hello Jane,

Sorry for the delay...I've been out of the country for approx. 3 weeks.
Unfortunately we had a huge sale while I was away and the fabric you ordered
was sold. Normally, I'm not away from the store for more than 2 or 3 days.
My 1 of many jobs this week is to update our on-line store. I apolopgize(sic)
for any inconvenience this may have caused!

Well....needless to say I was a little bugged/bummed about the whole thing. I quickly got on several other websites (including Denise Schmit, the designer of the fabric) and had absolutely NO LUCK finding my fabric. I even emailed some girls on etsy who were selling things made out of the fabric to see if i could buy some from them. It was pretty devastating, it's my favorite fabric ever and I couldn't find it anywhere!

Taryn and I started scouting for another fabric that wasn't in use, and boy, did we have trouble! We couldn't find any of the Fancy Flea Market Fabric ANYWHERE!!!

Finally Taryn emailed me this japanese website and said "look, they have it here!" and since I was getting desperate, I asked seth that night if he could help me translate it and so i could buy some american fabric from the online japanese store. Click here to see the store!

Surprisingly, it was fairly easy to get on and figure out what they were asking for...and even though the exchange rate stinks right now, it still was relatively inexpensive! Taryn and I got a big kick out of the fact that we were ordering fabric from Japan!

I emailed the store with my order and asked them if they could please let me know if they shipped internationally, and they replied and said they did, that it would take 2-3 days, and that shipping would be $6. Boy, what a deal! When i try to buy clothes from Layers clothing it takes 5-7 days and the shipping is $14, and they're in UTAH!!!

Well, my fabric came, and it's pretty great. The only thing is that they measure in cm, so i had guessed incorrectly on the yardage i needed, so I just ordered some more from them, but it still was a great deal!

On Being Happy...

Hi everyone! I still need to post my San Fran trip, I've been waiting until i get both mine and Seth's pictures uploaded!

This morning I'm listening to BYU.TV Music and the Spoken Word while I'm getting ready for church, and I had to stop and transcribe this quote because I just loved it so much.

I have so many reasons to be happy right now, and I really am happy, but I think the reason why i liked this quote so much is because it reminded me of less-than-happy times in life that we still can find joy. I was talking to my sister the other day about this, and she helped me see that sometimes it's not looking so hard in order to find the happy. That's what life is all about, huh?

Sigh. Here is my meticulously transcribed quote form Lloyd Newell on the February 24th, 2008 7:00 AM Music and the Spoken Word.

"One of the most popular courses taught at Harvard University is a class called "positive psychology." In essence the professor teaches how to find joy in living. One semester over 800 students enrolled. What does it say about our society that we must teach finding joy at the highest levels of academia?

Many myths and misconceptions swirl about how and where to find joy, for so many it's elusive. Some think that joy comes from money or material possessions so they conclude that adding more of them will surely bring increased joy...or we may only think we can have joy if our relationships are always stable and our careers always successful.

But real joy doesn't depend on our social status or our bank account and it can even be found in times of turmoil and disappointment. Joy springs from our attitude and outlook. I think this picture kind of describes it all. The seas might be stormy, but the sun is shining down anyway!
