New York!

So this weekend I had a work training in Newtown, PA, so after we were done we decided to take a quick trip up to NYC! We got in Friday night, went to dinner, and walked around times square for the evening. We stayed at Seth's law school friend Micah and Wendy's apartment, it was so nice! Wendy is an opera singer in the MET, and Micah went to Gtown for two years and then transferred up to Fordham for his last year so he wouldn't have to commute. They have a great apartment, and live quite the fun life!

Saturday we went down to the Wicked lottery to try and get tickets to the show, but no luck there, so we went to ALtAR BOYZ instead. It was really a fun and entertaining show! After we got out we went to the evening Wicked ticket lottery and lost again, so we went and got "standing room only" tickets to Les Mis! After the first half we got to sit down in the back row seats, so it really was exciting! The new cast is a little different...I think we're so used to the original cast "sound" that this was an adjustment, but it did fulfill a lifelong dream of seeing Les Mis on broadway!

After the full day of walking around NYC and seeing exciting shows, we drove home, and got back around 5 AM. Needless to say, I'm a little tired, but it certainly was worth it! I heart New York before 11:00 PM!

Third Installment: Christmas

Phew, it's nearly a month later and I'm just getting to installment three!

Arizona. It's so nice. SUNNY, warm, friendly, and fun. I could live there.

The Johnsons. SO GREAT. Nicest family ever. I love them.

Seth and I arrived only to find our luggage didn't make the same trip. The room next to the customer service desk at US Airways was ENTIRELY full of luggage that had been lost and was then found. I was sure we'd never see our luggage again....(okay, that was me being dramatic. I knew it'd show up, I just wasn't sure when!)

So we showed up at home emptyhanded, but not for long! Sammi gave me the cutest clothes from Charlotte Russe, and in addition accessorized me! DARLING headband, Cute Bracelets, and a pearl necklace that I absolutely love. Oh, and let's not forget the AWESOME reindeer socks, haha. And then CJ took me to her house and gave me PJs so I would have something to sleep in, and Gina and Curt gave me a toothbrush! Oh, and David gave me the Nacho Libre Soundtrack (he calls me Nacho, that's my nickname...) and Gina gave me a darling Precious Moments Statue!

We recieved our luggage the next day, which was quite a relief, and we were ready to play!! We went to movies, played 10,000 pyramid, went rollerblading at Freestone Park, went Ice Skating, watched House, slept in, went to Subway, ate DELICIOUS food (I miss costa vita sweet pork salad!!!) and spent quality time with friends and family.

On the Day after Christmas, we went to Seth's big friend reunion and I got to meet all of the people I've heard so many good things about! I've talked to Eliott online before, and I've seen pictures of the kids, but meeting and spending time with Eliott, Jen, and Co, was even more fun than I imagined! It was also so much fun to see Cauley and Jamie and their newest baby! Carpentinos is our new favorite italian restaurant, we hope that we live close to Kimball and Jolene someday so that we can go more often!

As I'm writing, I'm also watching House, thanks to Emmy. I think emmy watched at least 30 episodes of house while we were there, and we joined her for several of them! Cute Emmy, it was just so much fun to hang out with her. Every time my family sees a picture of her they just about how beautiful she is, and how she looks so much older than she is! I think she's just the best, so mature, so perceptive, such a kindred spirit (cheesy...sorry).

Anyway, this is really really long. I was sad to leave because it was so fun to be in AZ. It's easy to say that "I want to stay on vacation" but it was more than that. I just feel love, acceptance, friendship, and peaceful there. Yay for Christmas, Yay for Arizona, Yay for the Johnsons!

2nd Installment

The second installment to my Christmas is somewhat sad, and while I don't seem to have the right words to write about it, I really wanted to blog it because it has has such an impact on me.

A few days after Christmas, I got a call from my sister telling me that our Dad had a heart attack. I felt so scared and I was so sad that I wasn't right there to hold his hand and to hug my mom. While I couldn't be right there, I was so lucky to have Seth and the Johnsons around me to care, and it was so good to be able to talk with all of my sisters, my mom, and a few close friends on the phone. And, I was blessed to have the Comfort of the Holy Ghost to bring peace to my heart and calm my fears through that time.

Dad was in the hospital in Iowa City for almost a week, and then they let him go back home to Nauvoo with my mom. I knew dad was going to be okay when he told me that everything happens for a reason; aparently the Cable TV in Nauvoo doesn't carry the station that was broadcasting the Rose Bowl, so because Dad was in the Hospital, he got to watch the big game :) What a great example you've set for us Dad, to find the silver lining in every situation!

I'm so grateful for a Dad, who when faced with trial, finds the blessings, and is refined in the process. This is just another example of his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. We need him here to remind us, show us, and teach us, and we were blessed with just that.

1st Installment Christmas 2006

Lookie Here I have a Webalbum! I didn't know which pictures to choose so I decided to show you all of them! (All 98, for the hardcore fans of Jane's life, hee hee)

So this is the first of three installments of my Christmas 2006. Far too much happened to keep it all in one blog!

So in Short, Seth and I flew out on the 21st (and BARELY made our flight thanks to kind American Airlines Skycap Team Members) and then flew on a little plane from St. Louis to Quincy, IL, where Mom and Dad picked us up. After a lovely little meal at Panera in Quincy we drove back to Nauvoo and had a FUN and pleasant stay with the familia. My favorite things there were staying up late talking to Mom, going to the store and seeing all the new highlights with Dad, Playing Racko and The Game of Knowledge with the parents, Having Heather and Her family Join us, going to Rendevous (Willingly, because we have to! that's my favorite song! haha), Going to Alan's Piano Concert and Singing Really REALLY loud to all the Christmas Carols, having a great christmas eve pageant with the family, and waking up on Christmas morning with everyone to open presents. I loved watching the Kids play with their stocking stuffers and being so excited over the little things.

Then, Off to Phoenix! We made it (our luggage also did, eventually)! Stay tuned for the next installment of Christmas 2006!
