Sacrament "Creativity"

Just an observation...

The past month, our ward has made some very interesting choices in sacrament bread. I think we're getting a little "creative" as a singles ward...and I'm not sure I agree with it. In fact, I think we need to get an authority out here quickly to rectify the situation!

A month ago it was hardcore thick homemade sourdough bread

Three weeks ago we had some hardy wheat

Two weeks ago we had a mix of Yellow Potato and Cinnamon Swirl

And this last week we had Pita bread.

Hmmm. So I know it doesn't matter what we use, but I would imagine that if white bread is readily available and not a sacrifice, it would be the standard use for a congregation in America.

i LOVE that you posted about this. The cinnamon swirl def. got me laughing... but the pita bread i was convulsing PLUS it tasted revolting. No hummus, no pita bread! I told arianne next time we should have gold fish crackers...

SeriouslY???? Wow. My father-in-law is the Stake President in his Stake and Elder Nelsons three kids are in that stake, so he often visits. Once they had wheat bread as the sacrament bread and Elder Nelson said that they should always use white. I agree--get some authority out there...

when i was a junior in college, the girls had to make the bread for sacrament meeting. i thought that was a little bit sexist, so i bought wonder bread. i was a fan of the sourdough a few weeks ago, though . . .

I think white should be used so that you aren't distracted by thinking how good or bad the bread tastes.

THis reminds me of good old Grandpa Gee sending over some cinnamon raisin bread. I think someone told my dad, so he ran some white bread over to the church. Later that night Grandpa went on about how everyone could use a change in the bread. That was one of the begining signs that Grandpa was losing some reasoning abilities...

I have no problem with white or wheat, but it cracks me up that you've had cinnamon swirl and pita! I guess the pita is more along the lines of what Christ would have had, but really? That's funny.
